1.3 Basic computing skills

Do computers leave you feeling stressed and exasperated?  Do you long to master the basic skills needed to use a computer for everyday tasks?  We offer a relaxed, stress-free service that will enable you to learn, practise and master the basic computing skills that you feel would be most useful to you.  We can help you to find your way around a computer, write letters, send emails, search the Internet, set up simple accounts sheets, organise files, print documents and more.  No previous experience is necessary.  We will teach you all you need to know.

Cancellation: 

Full Cancellation: Please note, in the event of a full cancellation (i.e. all pupils unable to attend), full payment will be required if less than 24 hours notice is given. If more than 24 hours notice is given then no charge will be made.
Partial Cancellation (in the case of groups): In the event of a pupil of a group cancelling the other pupils will be expected to pay the appropriate amount for the smaller lesson regardless of notice given. [For example, if a member of a group of 3 cancels, the remaining 2 pupils will be requested to pay for the price of a lesson for 2]

4. Tutor Information

4.1 Elizabeth Tooby BAHons(Cantab), PGCE, Grade 8 Piano

Elizabeth studied at Cambridge University, where she graduated with an Honours degree in Natural Sciences. During this time she specialised in Plant Sciences, and was awarded first class passes for her literature review, Calcium-permeable Channels of the Root-hair Plasma Membrane and Their Roles in Polar Tip Growth. and her dissertation, An Investigation into the Subcellular Localisation of Aminoacyl-tRNA Synthetases and Pseudouridine Synthase.

After completing her degree, Elizabeth gained a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from Roehampton University. During this time she undertook specialist studies into The Importance of Creativity in the Teaching and Learning of Primary Science. After gaining her PGCE, Elizabeth taught at St. Nicholas' School, Church Crookham, where she coordinated Science in the Junior School and assisted in the Music Department: teaching classes, working with ensembles and participating in concerts.

In addition to teaching in schools, Elizabeth has also worked for the Cove based charity Parity for Disability and the national charity The Newman Holiday Trust. In her roles as a Care Assistant, she has gained experience of working with children who have multiple physical disabilities and behavioural and learning difficulties. As a fully qualified teacher, and from the charity work she does with under 18s, Elizabeth holds a current, valid CRB.

Elizabeth has also been playing the Piano since age 5, achieving a Grade 8 qualification (including Grade 5 theory) at age 17. She also plays the 'Cello and Flute, and sings in a local Fleet choir.

Elizabeth is a fun, friendly and caring individual. Her exceptional academic record and first-hand, practical teaching experience makes Elizabeth an excellent choice of tutor for helping pupils to achieve their full potential.
